September and October is a fun time to visit certain wineries as you get to enjoy the Fall colors of the trees. If you time things right, you can also see how they crush the grapes to make wine. If Italy is your fancy you can tour Italy with VJB Vineyards & Cellars. VJB Vineyards & Cellars give you an education of the landscape and people of Italy. You get to visit and enjoy the finest restaraunts and wines of Campania & Puglia, Italy. In the middle of October, there is a tour called the Flavors of Fall at Korbel. The Russian River is absolutelty beautiful this time of the year. Enjoy gourmet delights and fancy champagne on this tram tour of the vineyards. You also get to see the process of how they squeeze the juice out of the grapes to make wine. The Plaza Walking Tours is a guided tour that takes you through the breathtaking Plaza. This is one of my personal favorite wine tours. You get a little bit of wine history while enjoying some of the most pefect wine and food paring that exists on planet earth. And, the best part is that you get to walk it all off so there is no guilt.
Throughout November, December, and January the tours continue. Viansa Winery
offers tours all the way to the end of December. Visiting their Tuscan-style
Villa and Winery and underground cellar you get see how the wine is blended
and aged in barrels. There is a lot of science behind the scenes and this winery
in particular likes to tell you all about it. Winter Wineland on the Russian
River Wine Road will give you a wine making lesson along with your wine tasting.
Almost a hundred wineries congregate along the Russian River Wine Road for a
weekend to remember. You get to taste the wineries new blends and creations
as well as tour the many wineries in the area. After this the wine tours slow
down until the season changes back again. But, this is a great time to take
a wine making class. The cooking and wine classes offered by Ramekins are some
the best in the area.
